I Wanted You to Know is a real song by Brooke Ramel that was featured in the episode N.R.A.y RAY being sung by Toot Braunstein. It was later reprised by Spanky Ham as a Beatnik poet version in the episode American Idol Parody Clip Show. The actual song has also been used in episodes during poignant moments such as The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist, Little Orphan Hero, and A Tale of Two Cows.

Lyrics[]

Do you like how I sing a love song?
Do you like Vincent Van Gough?
I like to walk the streets at midnight.
I wanted you to know
That I'm really not like this
So lost and in question.
So much has been left unsaid.
You fill in the blank spots.
I guess at the hard parts.
Do you like my mom and dad?
Do you give lessons on how to love you?
Is my poetry simple and small?
I like to stay in bed on Mondays.
I wanted you to know.
Will you hold me if I cry?
Stay by my side til I sleep.
Sometimes, I still miss my first love.
He gave his heart to me.
Now I want you here with me.
